Our team just began to cooperate with the new Yunke company Xports in November 2025 (before that, it was originally cooperating with BasePara). In addition to the detection of the force board of basic physical ability, the new company also has special related Rapsodo testing (both pitching and hitting). Although I had seen this equipment before when I was interned in Wdragons, my understanding and application were not so in-depth at that time (partly because the special adjustment training will be mainly in charge of the special coach, and we are not very good at contact). It just so happened that I had the opportunity to come into contact with KPVS again these days. I learned about the operation principle and application of the instrument from the information on the Internet and shared it with you through this article.

Rapsodo-Introduction to Pitching Parameters

Rapsodo is an instrument that uses multiple cameras and radars. It is mainly used to track data related to pitching and hitting. For pitching, you can see the height, angle, speed of the ball, rotational speed (vertical plane, looking at the ball from the home plate to the pitching mound), hinge (use) and displacement. Advanced data can see the rotation efficiency (the efficiency of rotation to the ball offset, the algorithm is from the available speed/actual speed) and the gyro angle (Gyro degree, mainly to assist in judging the offset of the horizontal plane, which can be imagined as watching the hinge of the ball from the perspective of Bird eyes view. This data will also affect the rotation efficiency. When the hinge is completely perpendicular to the direction of the ball, the Gyro degree is 0 and the rotation efficiency is 100%).


These data can be of great help to coaches in designing the ball. As for why do we need to design the ball road? The main hope is to create the effect of pitch tunneling. Assuming that we make two different types of balls look close in the action, height, and after the shot, the ball flies to the home run to the batter before deciding to serve the bat, which is enough to confuse the player's bat and cause the swing.


Rapsodo-Introduction to Strike Parameters

In the part for the striking part, you can see the initial speed of hitting the ball, angle, hinge, rotation speed, and the expected distance and direction of flight (the video above is not introduced, but only in other videos in the channel). Of course, in addition to these parameters, if you want to cooperate with the swing speed, you can also monitor it through other equipment (for example: Bat speed recon). With the parameters of the batting result, you can integrate the current strike situation of the player. For example, some players may not have the fastest initial speed or angle of the ball at the maximum swing speed. At this time, it may remind the player that it will take a little effort to swing to achieve a better effect. In addition, if Rapsodo is put in actual throwing practice, you can also observe the strike status of the players in the face of different ball routes.


In a word, the data obtained through the operation test can have more objective data to analyze the players, but what is more important is how the coach should use the data, coupled with his own experience, and give appropriate guidance to achieve the best results.
